RF Engineer Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid – minimum 60% on-site) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an RF Engineer to join a specialist UK electronics company designing advanced RF and microwave systems for defence, aerospace, communications, and mobile network applications. Based in West Yorkshire, the business supports customers globally and continues to invest in next-generation RF technology. This role suits an experienced, hands-on RF design engineer who enjoys owning RF activities end to end, from concept and simulation through to validation and production handover. Main Responsibilities of the RF Engineer (based in West Yorkshire): • Own RF design for transceiver modules and subsystems operating from 20MHz to 18GHz. • Design RF front-end architectures and RFSoC interfaces, balancing performance, cost, power, and size. • Design and develop RF power amplifiers, including high-power designs up to 100W Psat. • Design and optimise RF circuits including LNAs, PAs, mixers, filters, oscillators, and synthesisers. • Produce PCB schematics and contribute to RF-focused PCB layout, including impedance control and shielding. • Perform RF simulation, modelling, and optimisation using industry-standard tools. • Verify and troubleshoot RF designs at module and system level using lab-based measurements. • Produce clear technical documentation to support efficient production handover. • Support products throughout the full lifecycle and mentor junior RF engineers. Requirements of the RF Engineer (based in West Yorkshire): • Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. • Extensive professional experience as a hands-on RF design engineer. • Proven RF design experience across the 1GHz–18GHz frequency range (20MHz experience advantageous). • Strong understanding of RF system performance, linearity, noise, and spectral purity. • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including VNAs, spectrum analysers, and signal generators. • Solid knowledge of RF PCB layout, substrates, and impedance-matched design. • Experience with RF simulation and design tools (ADS, Microwave Office, CST, HFSS or similar). • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within a team. • British citizen with existing SC clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance. Desirable Experience: • Defence, aerospace, communications, or mobile networks background. • RF design experience beyond 18GHz. • Experience leading RF work packages or mentoring engineers.
