Project Manager – Engineering & Technical Delivery
We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager in Saffron Walden to join a growing engineering team delivering complex, customer-led projects across sectors such as rail, aviation, and defence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded Project Manager to take full ownership of projects—from initial customer requirements through to design, build, and final delivery.

About the Role
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for interpreting customer specifications (including metal enclosures, cabling, schematics, and electrical systems) and transforming them into structured, deliverable project plans.
You will drive projects across the business, ensuring all elements—from design and engineering to production—are aligned, efficient, and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
•	Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with business goals
•	Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation
•	Take ownership of customer projects and drive them through the full lifecycle
•	Interpret technical requirements including metalwork, wiring, and electrical schematics
•	Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and production
•	Manage suppliers and third-party vendors
•	Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
•	Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
•	Communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior leadership
•	Conduct post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Key Skills & Experience
•	Proven experience as a Project Manager in engineering, manufacturing, or technical environments
•	Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
•	Experience using tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, or Trello
•	Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements
•	Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
•	Strong problem-solving ability with a hands-on approach
•	Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
•	Knowledge of rail industry technology (highly desirable)

Education & Qualifications
•	Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
•	3+ years’ experience in project management
•	Professional certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile (preferred)
