Redline Group are proud to support #saveourtown Luton

We are proud to support #SaveOurTown Luton, the regeneration of Luton Town by backing plans for the Newlands Park and Power Court development.

This dual-site project is the most exciting, ambitious and inspirational development for Luton in decades. It will transform the town centre and help put a sense of pride back into Luton. The proposed regeneration is focussed around two developments. Newlands Park will be a stunning new gateway to the town, at Junction 10 of the M1.

The development opportunity, the edge-of-town site previously designated for the stadium, has been master-planned for a new mixed-use development comprising commercial offices, hotel, retail and leisure. The award-winning architect’s town centre proposals for Luton 2020 Developments seek to regenerate the largely vacant Power Court site in the heart of Luton town and include a new 22,500-seat arena for Luton Town Football Club (LTFC). The development includes a sequence of complementary sports-focused retail, restaurants and public space as well as 600 residential apartments to help address Luton’s need for more homes.

The edge-of-town scheme at Newlands Park on Junction 10 of the M1 will include a mix of uses that will help reinvigorate the town as a destination while bringing a new offer to Luton. Designs focus on a commercial hub containing four anchor office buildings, potentially associated with increasing demands for administration space for nearby Luton Airport as well as a business hotel. Complementing the offices, the proposals create a new regional destination leisure-led centre including an extensive food and beverage offer, gym, bowling, cinema and retail.

The two sites will provide up to 10,000 jobs and will contribute more than £250 million pounds a year to Luton’s economy. Both projects will revitalise a town that has seen steady decline and stagnation over recent years. The local authority received an unprecedented 11,000 letters of support when plans were submitted.

Martin Crapper, Redline Managing Director comments: “Redline Group was ‘born’ in Luton in 1982 and has remained here ever since. We’ve seen the benefits of previous investments in the town: the rail links, the motorway widening, airport expansion, retail and commercial/business development. As we’ve grown, we’ve also taken advantage of one of the newer developments and are now based at The Village, Butterfield. As a local employer of 50+ staff, and with many UK and international visitors, we’re acutely aware of the need to expand the facilities and opportunities for residents and visitors (homes, leisure, hotels, industry etc.) so are wholly supportive of this, and other initiatives to keep investing in Luton.”
