UK labour market still growing

09/04/14 Adam Walker Director

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report On Jobs, produced by Markit, confirms continued growth of Permanent and Contract appointments.

Faster increase in permanent salaries, but temp pay growth eases
Sharper decline in candidate availability
Growth of appointments eases but remains strong

The Report on Jobs provides the most comprehensive guide to the UK labour market compiled from 400 leading recruitment consultancies and employers including Redline Group.

Office for National Statistics (ONS) data is showing a further drop in UK unemployment, the number of people out of work fell by 65,000 to 2.33 Million in the three months to January. The claimant count also fell in February by 34,600, now down to its lowest since November 2008.

Against this backdrop, demand for staff continues to rise at a marked pace, slightly easing in March but only just shy of January’s 15 year high.
