Peak Performance at Redline

29/05/14 Martin Crapper Managing Partner

Two of Redline’s 40-strong team recently took to the hills, tackling two of Britain’s highest mountains.

Andy Raymond – Business Development Manager Andy had been promising his boys (14 and 9 years old) for a while that they’d take the long road trip up to the Highlands and tackle ‘the big one’ – Ben Nevis. Regular climbers, they’d already cracked most of the noteworthy stuff in Wales and The Lake District so Ben Nevis needed to be added to the list.

Andy reports “At 8.30am on Sunday, with the correct snacks procured we set off from the car park. Conditions were favourable with just a bit of drifting mist obscuring the view from time to time. A hard slog but we made good time and after 3 hours we were at the snow line and time to wrap up for the summit. 30 minutes later there we were on top at 1344M (4,400 ft) , feeling very pleased with ourselves. The view was stunning (when the mist cleared) and worth all the effort and the boys have a great tale to tell back at school next week.”

Laura Preston – Consultant, Contracts Laura and her partner Matt regularly enjoy walking in the great outdoors, and having independently climbed Snowdon previously, he suggested they give it a go together.

Laura comments “After setting off at 9am on the Ranger path, it took until 12pm to reach the summit, 1085M up (3,500 ft). Clear skies as far as the eye could see, it is definitely a view not to be missed! The climb down took a couple of hours, plenty of time to get back to see Arsenal lift their first trophy in 9 years! I really enjoy the challenge of doing something with a degree of difficulty, and this seemed like the perfect test of my resolve!”

Commenting on the achievements, Redline’s Managing Director, Martin Crapper said: “We’re a sporting bunch here at Redline and in addition to 5-a-side football, cycling (several of the team did London-Paris last year), golf, Dragon Boat racing and other team sports, I’m delighted to see Andy and Laura’s drive and determination outside as well as in the office. The weather on Ben Nevis looked really cold, and Andy and his boys did amazingly well on their 6 hour adventure. The views from Snowdon looked stunning and I’m really proud of both of them, and thankful they remembered their Redline shirts . Well done.”
