Helping create a less stressful workplace – Mental Health Awareness Week 14-20th May

18/05/18 Peter Livingstone Director

Here at Redline, we don’t just talk about mental health issues, we provide the support and guidance to create a healthier workplace.  For us to maintain our wellbeing, noticing what’s making us stressed helps us learn how we can deal with it. This is particularly important in the workplace where stresses of workload and working relationships are common. Considering how much time we spend at work, it’s not surprising that our jobs can have a significant impact on our mental health.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (14 to 20 May 2018) and it is all about stress and how to cope with stress in the workplace. Here at Redline, we are focussed on helping our employees create a mentally healthy workplace where everyone feels valued and supported.

This is also why our chosen charity for 2018 is Mind – The Mental Health Charity.  Every year, one in four will experience a mental health problem however hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. Mind believe mental health issues are not spoken about without some sort of stigma around it and as they continue to campaign to raise more awareness, we want to do our best to contribute to their services.

Mind focusses on helping employees and employers create a mentally healthy workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. They have a range of information, guidance and support on how as an organisation can achieve this.

At Redline, we provide access to Health Assured, the provider of innovative health and wellbeing solutions. Health Assured recognises the increasing importance of wellbeing in the workplace and the impact and pressures that modern life has, both inside and outside of work. Employee wellbeing at work is important for many reasons including creating a positive, healthy environment in which to work is key to productivity, as well as employee retention and happiness.

We all know what it’s like to feel stressed – it’s part of everyday life. But when you’re overwhelmed by stress it may lead to mental health problems or make existing problems worse.

With this in mind, Mental Health Awareness Week 2018 is a great time to think about how we can all address the causes of work-related stress or find advice and support on managing stress in our daily lives.

A core part of our vision is to use our position to help the wider community through fundraising activities we have carried out over the last 35 years. We will be hosting Redline’s Annual Auction this July to help raise money to support Mind. Last year, we raised a whopping £3000+ and this was all down to the generosity of our employees and clients donating suitable prizes to be auctioned off at our head offices. If you would like to help us in our quest, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Gemma Rafferty on 01582 878846 or you email GRafferty@RedlineGroup.com.
