Job description

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Technical Author - 12 month fixed term contract to join one of Redline's longest-standing clients who specialise in the design and manufacturing of electronics.

The Technical Author - 12 month fixed term contract will create and maintain customer-facing and internal documentation (for example, documents, manuals, help systems and e-learning) to support our innovative range of scientific products. Additionally, they will help drive initiatives that improve our processes and systems. The Technical Author - Electronics is expected to explore new ways to communicate information effectively and to work with a high degree of autonomy in cross-functional teams. A specific focus area of this role is to improve customer-facing documents used to install and verify instruments in the field, which will involve regular interaction with the Customer Service specialists.

Key responsibilities for the Technical Author - 12 month fixed term contract / Home working job include;

- Writing, updating and proof-reading user-facing content within the constraints of defined templates and company writing style
- Coordinating with authors and wider cross-functional team to ensure good information flow
- Generation of video, graphical or photographic material for hardcopy, help and e-learning
- Using translation systems to create and monitor translation jobs
- Supporting the creation of technical content for various internal systems

Key requirements for the Technical Author - 12 month fixed term contract / Home working job include;

- Experience with authoring tools e.G: MadCap Flare (+Git), Author-It, Office, JIRA, Confluence
- Proficiency with graphics and photographic software, such as Adobe CC
- Some experience with low-level coding, such as HTML/CSS/XML
- Proofreading and editing skills
