Job description

A world leader in the design and manufacture of electro mechanical systems for the chemical industry is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to be based at their global technology centre to take responsibility for systems specification and architecture of new product developments (NPD) whilst managing the project to completion to an agreed timescale.

Duties of the Senior Project Engineer will include investigation of future engineering solutions for specific products in support of the product roadmap and Lead Engineer; Consideration of common sub-assemblies as part of improving product
Commonality; Design for Manufacture (DFM) including selection of materials.

Candidates for the position of Senior Project Engineer will have some of the following skills:

> Extensive knowledge of the mechanical (FEA, CFD) and electro/mechanical product development process, with a few years in a Senior/Principal Engineering role.
> Strong knowledge of product development methods and working practices (Gate processes).
> Knowledge of design tools and Product Data Management (PDM, SAP) - 3D CAD (CATIA, Solidworks / Inventor)
> Strong, demonstrated abilities in the area of standards compliance and technical construction files (CE marking, EN standards, ATEX, SEMI).
> Used to working in a multidisciplinary environment (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Software, Technologists, Marketing)
> Experience of FMEA, HAZOP, DFMEA and other design and risk analysis techniques

Ideal candidates for the Senior Project Engineer will have experience in fluids, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas or the semiconductor arena with an understand of systems and solutions including piping and instrumentation diagrams /designations (P&ID), system schematics and working knowledge of mechanical equipment, valves, piping sizes and identification, vents, drains, flow direction, control inputs and outputs etc.
