A great opportunity has arisen for a Senior Buyer to join an established Purchasing Team based in Fareham, Hampshire, for a client who are world leaders within marine electronics.
Reporting to the VP Supply Chain, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and supply management for electronic components, electro-mechanics, contract manufacturers and original design manufacturers.
Some of the key responsibilities in this Senior Buyer role will be:
- Working with our manufacturing partners, suppliers and engineering team to manage and resolve electronic component supply problems.
- Define sourcing strategies ensuring technology roadmap, cost and schedule requirements are satisfied and use industry knowledge to influence Design Engineers and Product Managers.
- Select, evaluate and approve new suppliers to meet current and future project and business requirements
- Manage the introduction of new parts and products to meet cost, quality and project schedule requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships, supplier development and supplier quality
- Apply commodity knowledge and production expertise to reduce cost, cycle time and drive efficiencies though the supply chain
Some of the key experiences and skills required for this Senior Buyer - Electronic Components vacancy are:
- Either an Electronics qualification with very strong commercial experience or a business related qualification with electronics experience
- Experience with Electronics
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, production, logistics and procurement.
- Skilled at working with MRP systems - SAP experience an advantage.
- Negotiation and relationship management
- Organised with a high attention to detail
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels within the supplier from line operators to senior directors.
