Job description

Our client, a leading provider of advanced inspection and testing solutions, is currently seeking a motivated Production Engineer based in Southampton. In this role, the Production Engineer will be responsible for defining, managing, and monitoring the manufacturing and assembly processes for the product. This includes overseeing the implementation of production procedures, driving productivity improvements through project-based activities.

The responsibilities will encompass new product introduction and process optimization to reduce waste, operating costs, and improve quality and safety. This position holds significant responsibility as the person will be involved in multiple phases or sub-tasks of projects with varying complexities. Moreover, they will be responsible for ensuring continuous production at our various sub-contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
> Provide support for production activities at supplier/sub-contractor sites, as well as Aylesbury detector-related matters.
> Generate reports on production performance, including process performance, yield, and lead time.
> Supervise and train sub-contractors effectively.
> Develop and maintain production test software to ensure product quality and traceability.
> Design new systems and processes for the cost-effective integration of new products or improvement of existing ones in manufacturing operations.
> Consider all product and system requirements from conception to finished result.
> Investigate production and process issues, offering technical support and training as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:
> Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in a production environment, with prior work involving sub-contractors.
> Degree in a relevant engineering, manufacturing or science degree field is required.
> Proficient in problem-solving techniques, including FMEA.
> Solid understanding of design and production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
> Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and manufacturing processes.
> Basic knowledge of image sensors and/or X-ray detector systems is desirable

**Travel: Approximately 20% of the role will involve one day per week visits to Aylesbury.**
