Are you looking Product Development Engineer - Hardware/Firmware working within global leading R&D companies? Are you looking for a challenging new position in the Optical/Photonic industry?

If you answered yes to both of the above, then our client has the position for you! Our client is a global leader in the design and development of advanced Optical & Photonic products. They are currently looking for a knowledgeable Junior Development Engineer - Hardware/Firmware to join their product R&D Team.

The role will involve input to the design and build of the products, verification of prototype performance against customer specifications and liaising with NPI and manufacturing teams to introduce the product to manufacture. Development of R&D test platforms and measurement automation will also be a requirement. The individual will work closely with other members of the design team, including optical and electronic engineers, test and process development engineers and the product qualification team to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities of this Product Development Engineer - Hardware/Firmware are:

> Part of team responsible for the sustaining of products to maximise revenue from these product lines. Including 100/200G Analogue and Digital Coherent Modules.
> Work with hardware, firmware and test teams to introduce new features, fix issues and maintain high yield.
> Definition and build of R&D test platforms and creation of test scripts
> Design verification testing and characterisation of optical transceivers in later phase of development, and creation of test reports.
> Support qualification activities
> Refine production test algorithms, limits and architecture in conjunction with test SW/HW team for use in manufacture
> Support to NPI and manufacturing teams to maintain manufacture and Contract manufacturing sites.

To apply for this Product Development Engineer - Hardware/Firmware position you must have a combination of the following:

Education/Qualification - Minimum:
> Honours degree or equivalent in physics, optics, electronics or equivalent technical discipline
> 2 years relevant industrial experience ideally within the Telecommunications, Electronics or Defence area.

Skills/Competencies Desirable:

> Optical Communication systems, components and design.
> Analogue and digital design knowledge.
> Design / Process development for high volume manufacture.
