Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Process Engineer - Team Lead - Oil/Gas based in South Yorkshire or Guildford to join this world leading supplier of industrial and specialist gases.


Due to continued growth they are seeking a Process Engineer - Team Lead - Oil/Gas who will be responsible for various tasks which will include acting as the working manager of a Process Engineering Team whilst supporting new projects/opportunities and providing efficient operational support to CES, Applications/New Developments, OnSites and MPG Operations across UK & Ireland. This includes operational support to all plants in the UK.

You will ultimately be responsible for providing the UK with technical leadership and Technical authority responsibilities across process engineering and represents the client on technical matters to governing agencies/industry bodies. You will also be accountable to project/operation engineers for the delivery of the process element of projects and also work on developing and implementing safe, compliant, lean, clear and flexible processes/working practices. You will also work on creating/sustaining a motivated, effective team that works collaboratively and efficiently with all parts of the business.

In addition to this you will also be accountable for identifying opportunities to reduce costs year on year whether this be through standardisation/technical improvements or people/process improvements and also ensuring that project design/costs are competitive and fit for purpose. As well as developing the team through regular assessment appraisals, training, talent development and recruitment etc.

As the Process Engineer - Team Lead, you will also be responsible for preparing designs and detail drawings of equipment and systems, equipment specifications and necessary project documentation. You will also lead the P&ID design and reviews, take part in HAZOP studies, safety studies, reliability studies and risk assessment to evaluate the safe and reliable working and operability of the plant and the integrity of plant protection systems.

Key skills/experience for Process Engineer - Team Lead - Oil/Gas include:
Around 10 years' experience in a process engineering discipline.
Practical experience in the industrial gases industry.
Supervisory or management experience
Being able to plan, manage and co-ordinate engineering resource to support the business to deliver objectives including providing emergency backup to resolve plant breakdowns/performance issues.
Having experience of supervision of others writing technical specifications, obtaining competent third-party service and ensuring the delivery from a technical, commercial and SHEQ perspective.
Experience in developing/maintaining a culture of SHEQ excellence and continuous improvement whilst complying with IMSS standards, health & safety at Work Act, COMAH regulations, COSHH, WSOE, PSSR, ISO9001, ISO4001 etc.
Having experience in process hazard analysis/process risk assessment techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA etc.)
Being able to act as the Engineering Technical Authority by creating all necessary technical documentations based around calculations, drawings, specifications etc.
