Once in a lifetime opportunity based in New Zealand, Auckland for a Principal RF Engineer to join a world leading, very exciting high-tech rocket systems company!

Would you be interested in playing an integral role in providing frequent space launch opportunities to low Earth orbit? This job opportunity in New Zealand is a chance to work on rocket systems and technologies which will enable the next generation of fast and affordable payload deployment. With over 200employees in R&D, we are looking for a Principal RF Engineer - Space to provide technical authority / a lead role for their RF Engineering division.


As a Principal RF Engineer - Space you will work with both the Avionics and Launch teams and you will play an important role in the design, test and integration of radio frequency communication components / systems used to support the company's launch vehicle.


Core job responsibilities will include:
> RF design at component level - HF / VHF / UHF / SHF.
> Defining RF systems based on requirements of specific R&D teams.
> Manage operations of RF link to rocket vehicles and remote sites.
> Define test plans and execute accordingly - functional / environmental / EMC.
> Configuration of receivers / transmitters for the flight phases.
> Assess interference with other Radio Frequency sources and plan accordingly.


Skills and experience required will include:
> Strong experience with RF communication components in Space, Aerospace, Aviation, or Defence related industries.
> Previous experience designing and integrating RF front-end systems for high reliability.
> Experience with RF test equipment - oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, multi-meters, power meters, etc.
> Strong communication skills are a must.
> To have obtained a relevant Engineering / Physics related degree, ideally to Masters or PhD level.
> Previous experience with ground stations design and deployment would be very beneficial but not essential.
> Previous experience with satellite, rocket, or missile comms would also be beneficial but not essential.
