Physics Post - Doc Research role - Device Physics, Opto-Electronics - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire to £ 37K

An excellent opportunity for a Physics Post-Doc Researcher to directly transpose their Research skills in Electronic and Opto - Electronic devices into a commercial Research job

You will join a respected organisation who have world-class expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering, microelectronics, materials and life sciences and work on a range of topics from fundamental understanding to optimising materials and devices for market applications, an organisation who are 100% committed to on-going innovation.

The team you will join focuses on the identification and evaluation of new technologies and how they can be applied to research projects that are commercially relevant for their next generation products, with a focus on investigating and evaluating novel projects and technologies associated with “sustainability” and “digital transformation”.

The role will involve a range of activities including technology trend research, detailed assessments of technology status, roadmaps and unmet needs as well as experimental design and execution.

Technologies evaluated will be diverse (possibly energy storage, thermoelectric devices, biosensors, mems devices etc) but with the expectation that the evaluation will require significant knowledge of Physics.

This role presents a significant opportunity for creative contributions and personal input in a varied area of novel technologies as well as an opportunity to experience first-hand ideation in a commercial environment and acquire new technical skills including Intellectual Property (IP) and market awareness.

You will also liaise with academics and industry experts to develop core IP to protect this technology.


YOUR KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS FOR THIS JOB SHOULD INCLUDE SOME OF -


> PhD in physics or a physics-related subject, with a broad-based research focus on developing and demonstrating materials for new technology applications.
> Experience in electronic or opto-electronics device physics.
> Experience in statistical analysis is highly desirable.
> Experience of developing testing procedures, including writing experimental and data acquisition control programmes for new devices.
> Experience of using materials in prototype device structures to demonstrate desired functional properties is desirable.
> Experience fabricating electronic or opto-electronic devices using solution processing techniques
