Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available with one of our clients at The Redline Group for a Development Engineer in Photonic Integrated Circuits. My client is a large and successful company involved in the design of complex telecommunication subsystem and Photonics products. The company is at the absolute forefront of technology world wide and are looking for an individual that is driven by their excitement of discovery and passion for complex semiconductor and electronic technologies.

The intention for this role would primarily be the development and modelling of new and improved photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) (optical waveguides, semiconductor materials and physics, RF, and others), for coherent detection and direct detection systems above 100 Gb/s. You would also be involved with research and development of photonic III-V semiconductor device technologies, design methodologies, fabrication techniques and systems applications.

This position will provide the opportunity to work within a team of proven and talented scientists and engineers developing state of the art photonic technology, devices and systems for several industries, most notably within telecommunications. You will be working in a particularly complex environment solving challenging problems with a real commercial impact.

The ideal candidate for the Development Engineer in Photonic Integrated Circuits job will have the following skills:
- A PhD in a related field
- Previous work in optics, optoelectronics, semiconductor technology, solid state physics, electronics or telecommunications
- Some background in physics, ideally in a related technical field
- Some exposure to III-V modelling using software tools

The following skills would be desirable for the Optoelectronic Packaging Design Engineer job :
- Some exposure to Optoelectronic component/wafer processing
- Previous experience including semiconductor materials and devices, semiconductor lasers, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA), optical modulators, photonic integrated circuits (PIC), PIC design software, microwave/millimeter-wave RF, and 10/40/100G circuitry

This company is not only the leader in their field but also offers excellent professional and technical growth opportunities. In addition, their offices are well established and have multiple additional benefits for their employees including on-site restaurants, free parking and great long term career progression.
