Are you a Multi-Skilled or Electrically-biased Maintenance Engineer, looking for an exciting new role?
My client, who are a one of the UK's largest and most successful commercial lighting manufacturers, are looking to hire a Maintenance Engineer to join their team based at the HQ in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
As a Maintenance Engineer based in Ashton-under-Lyne, you will be responsible for providing electrical/mechanical support to all areas of the business, working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve and fault find all issues on plant machinery, facility electricals, electrical equipment and operational projects to ensure that business operations are conducted effectively and safely at all times.
The key operational performance responsibilities included in this position are:
- Perform electrical maintenance on equipment ranging from production machinery and plant equipment to fixed wiring systems with installation work as required, including emergency lighting
- Prioritise breakdowns to repair faults ensuring the production facility can operate with minimum disruption
- Perform daily, monthly and yearly mechanical/electrical PPM tasks on-time to the maintenance plan, to ensure equipment reliability and minimise production downtime
- Assist and lead projects within the business working with multiple functions to drive efficient and safe working practices
- Liaise with Managers & Supervisors across the business to plan workload in the areas and react to any repair or improvements
- Work in a timely efficient manner, prioritising workload set by Maintenance Supervisor
- To attend daily Production meetings to represent maintenance on updates or live issues
- To ensure that PUWER checks are completed daily and any issues reported and investigated
- Adhere to all lock off procedures, ensuring all safeguards are used when using plant equipment and to ensure all tools/equipment are in a safe working condition
- Work alongside our Quality team to identify process improvements, investigate potential MQAs and report back findings
The ideal Maintenance Engineer candidate, based in Ashton-under-Lyne will ideally be qualified to HNC standard or higher in an Engineering discipline, or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. You will have strong prior experience of working within a Maintenance Engineering capacity, with strong knowledge and experience of following safe working practices. You will be an effective communicator at all levels, who takes real pride and passion in their work and operates consistently to high standards. Experience working to BS7671 standards, working with punching and folding machines and a good understanding of OEE are all desirable traits, but not essential.
