A great opportunity has come up for a Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks to work in R&D for an exciting client who are based in Cambridgeshire who specialise in the design, manufacture, and supply of various Electronic Instrumentation that are used all over the world. This includes high tech analysers and testing equipment.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks, you will have experience with the following:

- Solidworks: creating parts assemblies and drawings for manufacturing.
- Ability to take a design concept and realise it. This may require design input, implementation suggestions and generate contribution towards a successful design.
- An understanding of pneumatics, mechanical systems and electrical system integration.

Responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks will include:

- Managing the quotation. This process (for metalwork) will involve discussions with suppliers on manufacturing optimisation. And liaising with parts suppliers (machine shops) to source parts in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Update current CS drawings into solid models.
- Perform the initial entry of parts, components and assemblies to the STORED system.
- To perform installation and servicing duties in-house and on-site both in the UK and internationally.
- To build prototype systems, write evaluation test plans and execute them.
- To build and test company products (line items and custom systems).
- Aid in the writing of assembly specifications, test plans and maintenance of user documentation (manuals).

Other responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks may include:

- Undertaking validation protocols (IQ / OQ) on a customer site.
- Aiding the sale force in demonstrations (on or off site).

You must have a car and hold a license. As this role will include being a customer facing representative.
