If so, then we have the job for you! Our client is a highly successful technology company with offices all over the world. They design and manufacture a wide range of very hi-tech, complex, Electronic products that are used across dozens of industries.

They are expanding their state-of-the-art R&D facilities in Northamptonshire and require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

They are open to candidates of any experience level but feel this would particularly suit someone at an early stage of their career, who has some commercial experience but is still learning / developing their skill set in Mechanical Design.

In this Mechanical Design Engineer role, you will be responsible for the following:
- You will be responsible for the mechanical design of specialist tooling for the manufacture and test of semiconductor optoelectronic chip devices.
- You must create technical documentation and able to verify designs using a combination of hand calculations, simplified models and software.
- You will need to be able to generate a design specification in the form of 3D models and 2D engineering drawings for manufacture and assembly using Solidworks CAD package.
- Modify existing production test hardware, ensuring design specification meets the latest requirements .

To apply for this Mechanical Design Engineer job, you will need a combination for the following:
- Previous experience in the design of multi-part assemblies
- Experience generating 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks or other CAD packages
- Able to generate engineering drawings to BS 8888 standards
- Ability to act on initiative and prioritize workload to meet business needs
- A collaborative team player, focused on team delivery and able to thrive in a quick paced, creative environment
- DESIRABLE: Understanding of GD&T specification
- DESIRABLE: Thermal and stress simulation (SolidWorks)

Full training and support will be given to the successful candidate. But you must have a degree and some commercial electronic design experience.
