Job description

An excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join this high technology design and engineering company who work with well-known manufacturers across the world and specialise in pioneering and developing cutting-edge nano and ultra high precision control technology from concept to mass production.
With this job, you would be working on technology so advanced that it allows the control, positioning and movement of components smaller than a human hair to be positioned with the accuracy of the wavelength of light. They are the only company in the world able to work at this precision.
Along with offering variety day to day in a stimulating and exciting environment they also bring real products to market, seeing the entire process through from inception through to mass production. This provides a real sense of achievement for the individual Mechanical Engineer and team.
Due to the introduction of their ground breaking technology into new product areas, they are now looking for a dynamic and ambitious mechanical engineer to join their growing team of world-class technologists.
You will need to be passionate about technology, able to play a significant role a highly skilled team, prioritising activities, balancing long and short term objectives and finding efficient ways to solve problems and you can also look forward to travelling to Asia and America a few times a year to support the manufacturing of their IP and technology.

The main job responsibilities will be -

> Creation of new product concepts to maintain their technical lead in control technology
> Development of detailed designs which deliver the concept in a manufacturable product
> Working with control and electronics engineers to ensure the product design is fully compatible with their technology
> Responsibility for identifying and resolving issues with the product through prototype build and test cycles
> Collaboration with manufacturing partners in Asia and America

Your qualifications and experience will need to include -

> A 1st or 2.1 class from a top university in mechanical engineering or related discipline
> Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals including mechanism design, structural and dynamics analysis
> Experience of 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
> Experience of communicating, showing initiative, making decisions and arguing your point as a member of a team of highly skilled engineers.
> At least 3 years' experience in an engineering environment or a postgraduate post
> Good customer facing skills
