Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Herefordshire, to join a leading manufacturer of complex electronics equipment, predominantly used within the renewable energy sector.
The Mechanical Design Engineer, Herefordshire, will report into the Technical Director and will be working as part of the Product Development team to ensure they meet the agreed Product Specifications. This will include the full lifecycle of mechanical design from concept generation, through prototyping, detailed design (including tolerance analysis) and cut into production with appropriate quality controls.
Some of the main responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer, Herefordshire will be:
> Application of sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
> Generation of robust 3D models and assemblies.
> Creation of 2D drawings for both manufacturing (Including GD+) and component assembly.
> Ongoing support of existing products through changes instigated through the ECR process.
> Tolerance Analysis and material selection of designed components.
> Checks of drawings produced to ensure accuracy and suitability.
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer, Herefordshire, should be able to demonstrate knowledge or experience in one or more of the following subjects:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Competent in the use of Solidworks for 3D modelling and 2D drawings.
- Proven understanding of mechanical principles.
- Knowledge and expertise with common manufacturing methods e.G. Metal fabrications, machining, castings, surface coatings, plastic mouldings etc.
- Electrical / electronic integration.
- Concept design through to detailing.
