Job description


My client design and manufacture market leading Optronic solutions for Defence & Aerospace applications. This includes head up displays for commercial airliners, helmet mounted displays for 4th & 5th generation fast jet platforms, night vision for the dismounted soldier, and advanced electro-optics for airborne, maritime and vehicle platforms.

Development Engineering is a core discipline that supports the company's ability to develop and deliver new (& existing) products in a cost effective and timely manner. The primary role of Development Engineering is to identify and mitigate the technical risks in development projects. This is a proactive, hands on role that takes the lead in developing awareness of technology trends, opportunities, and implementation where appropriate. This challenging position will push an individual, providing opportunity for personal development and progression.

You will be given training to be able to develop and grow into working with the key responsibilities. Once trained, your main duties as a Graduate Development Engineer will include:

- Fundamental support to technology development - convert the concepts into reality through controlled and Structured development tasks.
- Leading and supporting process definition and improvement and ensuring tie-in between design and manufacturing
- Creating positive working relationships with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure the transfer of Development projects into production.
- Produce engineering reports


It is essential that the Graduate Development Engineer to have the following:

- An education to degree level, preferably in Physics / Mechanical/ Optical/Aerospace Engineering.
- A technical background with strong analytical skills, practical ability and a good understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
- success in establishing effective working relationships at all levels
- Drive and proven ability to work under own initiative
