Job description

Multiple Exploratory Software Testers - Cambridge, to £ 65K + benefits

What does Testing mean to you ? If the answer is everything, I love it, it's what I do, we really need to speak about this position.

If exploratory testing is not just a buzz word but the way which you approach your day to day software testing strategy and workload, then this is the environment for you.

You should be the sort of Tester who makes it their business to stay up to date with what is happening in the testing world and look for every opportunity to apply the best bits to yours and your teams work. You should enjoy engaging with the wider testing community, learning and swapping ideas and experiences. You have the right to expect that the company also believes passionately in testing, from the every start of the project, not as an afterthought and looks upon your input as valuable, as an absolutely integral part of product development. You should love the challenges associated with working on different technologies - software, hardware, maybe some firmware, video compression, wireless performance and even entire systems. The systems are so complex that it simply isn't possible to test every conceivable combination / permutation, so you will need to be experienced enough to know how to test sufficient elements to ensure confidence in the product. Knowing when to automate and when not to is a given.

If this is the sort of environment you would thrive in, this is the company and role for you.

The company are a very successful, highly profitable Software and Chip company who own the very lucrative space that they work in. They are rapidly expanding, building their complex IP into world leading Graphics, Video / AR / VR products. They are developing exciting, working, worl leading technology technology where their competitors are struggling. They are looking for a number of skilled Software Test Engineers to join their impressive R&D facility in the heart of Cambridge. They invest in the best tools to give you the most productive environment, such as custom built rooms for scrum stand-ups. You would also get to work flexible hours (core hours being 10am to 4pm) to help fit in with your lifestyle.

This is an opportunity for you to improve your knowledge, master a technical area and contribute to a high quality engineering methodology. Engineers support each other by knowledge sharing, encouraging best practice and mentoring more junior colleagues.

This job is a rare opportunity for an experienced Software Test Engineer to work at the forefront of semiconductor technology, testing products that will be used in Augmented and Virtual Reality, high quality 3D graphics and networking devices, sold in consumer electronics products worldwide ! The work is fascinating, complex and certainly not easy, the very reasons that they are looking for the best people, not only experience wise but also from an attitude and passion angle too.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills / experience:

> A strong understanding of exploratory testing.
> A background in complex testing for embedded electronics / hardware.
> A sound understanding of testing strategy, planning, test case design, and bug reporting
> Experience in automation / scripting and to know when to automate and when not to.
> Exposure to device drivers, hardware, desktop testing would be ideal.

This company push the barriers of what is physically possible within technology, and they are looking to add multiple Software Test Engineers to work on exciting new R&D projects. The testing team are viewed as a very important, integral part of R & D, so this is not just a job, but a genuine career opportunity, where you will have the ability to directly influence product development and be given the opportunity to take on more responsibility as you prove yourself.
