Are you a Test Manager with experience of High Voltage (HV) electrical testing?

My client is a Luton, Bedfordshire based, Market Leading global energy company who have a job opportunity for an Electrical Test Manager to lead a small team of Engineers with in a busy manufacturing site.

The Electrical Test Manager will be responsible for the Test department, providing and maintaining functional test equipment for in-house production.

This job is based in Luton, Bedfordshire and is commutable from parts of Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

Job Description & Duties: -

- The management of the Test department and resources to achieve on-time delivery to the standards required by the customer.
- Technical leadership of Test Bay Engineers and Hardware resource.
- To co-ordinate with production (new units, repairs and spares and relevant services) to ensure adherence to test plan schedules.
- To ensure development of Test Bay Engineers through mentoring and training.
- Organise available resources to meet the requirements of test. Ensure accurate collection of test data.
- Monitor and report performance against Test Data Sheet.
- Liaise with Design & Production Engineers regarding test methods.
- Clear understanding of technical drawings, feedback to engineering for DFM.
- Ensure that all tests comply with IEC 60034 standards and any other motor & pump testing governing standards / policies.
- To work with hydraulic, quality and electrical engineers to ensure EMSS, TP and Quality plan are setting objectives that can be set within test. This will require the Head of Test off the above.
- Develop / maintain the organisation's ability to deploy standard global processes, tools, metrics, measurement and reporting.
- Ensure that test data reports are complete and filed/logged within engineering within 24 hours of test completion.
- Investigate and implement test data acquisition system.
- Ensure that all equipment is functional at all times, and within calibration.
- Investigate and implement new test method.
- Proactively maintain and upgrade test equipment for future planning.
- To capture Technical Expertise in test and develop procedures to ensure continuity within Test.
- To work with the Operations Manager to implement a Test Bay strategy aligned with business development needs.
- Manage & maintain good levels of housekeeping (5S)
- Ensure adherence to all health & safety procedures and set & maintain high standards at all times to ensure safety.
- Proactively participate in, promote and implement lean/improvement activities and culture change.
- Supports Continuous improvement efforts through involvement in structured problem solving and other activities using LEAN concepts.
- Any other related duties as required

Essentials: -

- Master of Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Senior Authorised person training
- High Voltage awareness up to 33 kV
- Good knowledge of IEC 60034, all parts and ISO 9906
- Experience in Vibration/Displacement measurements and Orbital Plotting
- Experience in working in High Voltage, High Pressure, High Temperature and High Speed environments
- Experience in working with VSD/VFDs
- Experience in working with Dynamometers
- 5 + Years' experience in Testing Laboratory
- 3 + Years' experience in discipline area
- Strong leadership & man-management skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strategic planning to achieve output
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
