Job description

A fantastic opportunity for a Data Scientist with experience of machine monitoring, fault prediction and prognosis to join a major engineering company (4000+ Employees in 30 countries) and be in at the start of a new project and product line, introducing fault prediction capabilities to a range of complex, high value, high speed machinery which is used in the manufacture of semiconductors, flat panels etc.

The purpose of the job is to develop innovative new algorithmic techniques, advanced algorithms and advanced data analytics software tools to improve fault prediction / prognosis. You will also undertake data science based research and present your findings to internal and external customers at an engineering and customer level.


You will also -

> Drive new algorithm development to bring about improved fault detection and customer efficiency / yield based savings
> Develop training materials for your algorithms / reporting tools usage


Skills required for this Data Scientist job -


> Knowledge / experience of developing algorithms and data analysis tools in Matlab, Python, R etc.

> Knowledge / experience of using data analytics software / toolsets / scripting languages e.G. Matlab, JMP, SPSS, SAS, Python, R

> Knowledge / experience of machine based sensors and associated technologies beneficial e.G. Vibration

> Knowledge /experience of writing and producing solutions in software languages e.G. VB, C/C++/C#, Java

> Experience with implementation and usage of condition monitoring / facilities management / CRM / Finance systems beneficial.

> Strong interpersonal and communications skills


You will need 3 years+ experience of algorithm development using Matlab, (ideally for condition monitoring or prediction) and of using data analytics / data characterisation / data-mining techniques, software and their applications to real world problems, either from a research or commercial stand-point and could have gained this experience from either industry or as your PhD.
