Technology has transformed our lives, communities, cultural experiences and our economy. But the UK isn’t just a consumer of innovative technology, we’re a creator too. British industry has quickly become a key player in the tech world.

According to recent estimates, the IT and digital industry contributes around £97bn to the UK economy a year, with British tech firms attracting the biggest investment of any European country.

These companies are at the forefront of developments in robotics, artificial intelligence, 5G internet access, digital transformation, machine learning and communication.

Computers shape the way we live, the way we work, and increasingly influence the economic structures that make up the global economy.”

Brett continues: “The lesson from history is that technological change leads to more jobs being created. In the 1960s and 70s, people feared that computers were going to make thousands of jobs redundant, yet computers have been the reason for a continuous supply of employment and the continuous development and creation of IT jobs such as Java, Cloud, PHP, SQL, Mobile, E-commerce, Networks, Big Data, Solutions Architecture and Machine Learning.

“There has been a surge in demand for skills in cyber security as social media, virtual and augmented reality have become a big part of our digital lives,” says Brett. “Some do not fully realise how much of what they do is so technologically dependent. Considering the success of AI phenomenon PokemonGO, and much loved SnapChat filters, the technology looks set only be utilised further during 2017, which should revolutionise gaming, education, and entertainment further, and bring a large number of job opportunities in Software, IT Infrastructure, Business Change and Digital Transformation. Healthcare and digital engagement are also pushing boundaries and innovation to new levels. The need for specialist talent has never been greater. Not to mention the highly sought-after experience in structured and unstructured data management technology like SQL, Oracle, NoSql, Cassandra, MongoDB and Hadoop to handle and make sense of the terabytes and petabytes of data. All this technology and the quest for digital dominance requires Leads, Architects, Innovators and Visionaries who can build and deliver scalable and robust technology environments which is why now, more than ever, the hiring of the right technology professionals in these technology specific areas if absolutely vital to keep businesses ahead of the game.”

“Today, the average annual salary for professional people working in IT is up by £3,933 at £49,289. Approximately 57,000 IT developer jobs are advertised online each month, and there are 20,533 job roles in the UK IT & Communications industry. There are many opportunities for talented IT professionals across a range of exciting and innovative disciplines. An IT manager is one of the most in-demand job roles in the UK, and other key roles include mobile technology, app development, IT in healthcare, working in cloud network infrastructure and in IT security.” says Brett.

“The UK tech sector is already creating jobs at twice the rate of the rest of the economy, and there is a growing importance of investing in digital innovation. It is vital that we help our world-class entrepreneurs and innovators to succeed is how we lay the foundations for the UK’s tech success and build an economy for the future.”

“The technologies which are emerging today will have a profound an impact on our economies and lives in the 2020s and 2030s, as the internet and smart technologies have over the past 20 years. An economy fit for the future will be driven by innovation, and scientific and technological advancements have the potential to transform and improve our lives. We should seek to make the UK the best place in the world for AI businesses to develop, start, grow and thrive, and added that AI and automation are some of the most important industries to invest in for the future.”

“In today’s culture of rapid technological expansion, it is more vital than ever for your company to stay ahead of the competition. Every company’s worth is measured by their staff, and so finding the right professional staff to drive forward the ambitions and innovation of your business is crucial to your long term success.”
